Sandywatch and Halloween

I am sitting home waiting for Hurricane Sandy to make landfall.  I am using all the electricity I can before the inevitable power outages come rolling in.  3 brown outs so far.  I figured a Twilight marathon would be fitting for Halloween.   Here is my Twilight inspired  Halloween card.  Hope everyone is safe and wishing you all a Happy Halloween!

Congratulations Tina! Please email me at michellena317@comcast dot net with your address and I will send your candy out on Monday.

Has anyone else been bitten with this whole Vampire craze? I am currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels... (The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris). I can't seem to get enough vamps.. Twillight and the Vampire Diaries... now I am reading all the different books... Morganville Vampires, My Blood Approves, House of Night...etc. Anyone know of any other good ones I should be reading? In the meantime, now I can make cards with them too...

Have you seen the cool new Vampire themed digi stamps from Tiddly Inks? I just ordered some and can't wait to print them up and color them. You can see the whole
release here on the Tiddly Inks blog.

Image belongs to Tiddly Inks.

Finally, I want to share an update on last weeks crafty goals.

1) Figure out how to thread a bobbin so I can use my Sew Mini again- DID IT!!!
2) Try airbrushing clouds with my Copics (Sort of DID IT! Did some sponging with masked clouds...came out really well. Will share tomorrow.)
3) Make ribbon flowers out of Glubers (DIDN'T EVEN DO IT!)
4) Read my Shadows & Shading book by Marianne Walker (DID HALF OF IT!)

2) Finish reading Shadows and Shading
3) Sewing on Cards

My desk is not too messy only a few stamps left out that need to be cleaned!
I decided to play along with Whats on Your Workdesk Wednesday this week. I hope you like my card and what's on my desk....I actually made a card this week. Woo Hoo! I am on a roll.
It is a birthday card for my manager's birthday on Friday. I made this cardbase about a year ago when I first got my Janome Sew Mini Sewing Machine.... I was cleaning up a bit over the weekend and found this and a few other cardbases so I decided to use it. I thought the colors were dark enough that I could use it for a card for a man. I hope he likes it! While making my card, I learned a little something that I never noticed before. Distress ink does not play nicely with my clear stamps! I must have tried stamping the sentiment 4 times before I realized it was the ink and not me or the stamp. I finally tried again with Memento ink and got a perfectly clear image.

Stamps: Tiddly Inks digi, Inkadinkadoo Cardstock and Paper: Stampin' Up Crushed Curry, PTI Stampers Select White, Paper and random yellow cardstock from stash... Ink and Accessories: Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink, Memento Rich Cocoa dew drop, Janome Sew Mini, Making Memories Buttons, Martha Stewart Foam Dots, Ric Rac and rhinestone from stash, Copics: BG000, BG05, BG07, E40-E43, E50-E53, Y000, Y13, Y15

Muah!

It's wednesday and I forgot to take a picture of what is on my workdesk...ah nuts... maybe later. Even better, I actually have a finished card to show you. My card today is based on Mojo Monday sketch # 160. I have had this image colored up for a while but I wasn't very happy with how her dress looked. After seeing Elaine's tutorial over at Color Me Copic for challenge # 6 -coloring clothing with copics, I decided to go back in and work on the folds of her dress a bit more and I like this finished product topped off with the Smooch Illuminate pearlized accent much better. Once I got my card together it still wasn't complete. I ransacked my stamp collection searching and searching for just the right sentiment and then I came across this one..."Muah" just went perfect with this image!

Butterfly Chi

Happy Monday everybody! I hope you all had a good weekend. I had a very relaxing weekend...however I think I have pulled a few underused muscles last night. I decided to start working out and eating healthy...yes again..lol! I am trying not to restrict anything per se...just limit the junk and increase the healthy fruits, nuts, veggies, fish... water. So, I thought in addition to my new healthy meal plan, a great inexpensive cardiovascular excercise would be jumping rope. I figured, hey... I used to jump rope all the time as a kid and jumping up and down definitely counts as excercise. Well apparently it is not as easy as I remember. I have never felt so hot, sweaty, or out of breath in my life! And that was only after 5- 7 minutes. I can't even tell you how many times I got tangled in the rope too! Anyway... I will keep at it and hopefully with some practice I will improve.

Above is a quick card I made last night after the jump rope disaster.

Going Swimming during an Eclipse

Well it is officially at heat wave...it was over 100 degrees today. Thank goodness I went to see Eclipse and was able to beat the heat by doing some card making...but I kinda wish I had gone swimming. Since I don't have a pool...this card was the next best thing. I decided to play along with the Sketch Saturday challenge this week...

Recipe: Going Swimming digi by Tiddly Inks, Sun digi by Tiffany's Doodles, Amy R Stamps Summer Sentiments, CC Designs Copic Quality Cardstock, Tangelo Memento Ink, DCWV Safari and Glitter Cardstock, Coredinations Cardstock, Damask Tim Holtz Texture Fade, Petaloo Dazzlers, Copics: Y32 Y35 Y38, R30 R32 R43, YR00 YR12 YR15, Y21 Y23 YR21 YR23, BG0000 BG34, E000 E00 E93

By the way if you are not a Twihard and are on the fence as to whether or not to see Eclipse...definitely go. My best friend went with me and she has not read the books or seen all the other movies...and she LOVED it!!! Her exact words were..."When do we get to see the next one!" LOL!

Get Well Soon

Here is a get well soon card I made for my Mommy's best friend's husband. He is not feeling well so I thought he could use some TLC from Doctor Annie!

So far day one of my 5 day Independence weekend is off to a great start. The weather here is gorgeous and I just enjoyed the best raspberries ever! Thank god for whoever invented fat free cool whip!

The clouds in the sky are so perfect don't they almost look fake? I looked like a total tourist outside of AC Moore snapping pictures of the sky... oh well I think it is pretty and I am NEVER outside ...so I was enjoying it. I was so shocked at all the great stuff at AC... they redid their scrapbooking section...they had all the new Tim Hotlz Sixxiz stuff, Nesties, really awesome glitter cardstock...which I talked myself out of buying. I actually somehow only spend $11 mostly on Prima Say It In Pearls and Me and My Big Ideas Ellen collection paper which should have been $15 but rang up as $5...I wasn't complaining. I also got try this new This to That adhesive runner to try. It took me about 2 hours of walking around the store and window shopping picking things up and putting them back, but in the end I was a good girl.

Enjoy your 4th of July weekend!!! Playing Dress Up

When I saw this little digi... I immediately thought of me as a kid playing in my parents' closet and dressing up in my dad's clothes. I was definitely a Daddy's Girl! I thought this would make a perfect father's day card.

The Post It Paper didn't take the Distress Ink as well as I would like... I think I need to try a quicker drying formula for this paper. But it was great to not have to apply any adhesive to those layers. Makes making a quick card...very simple.

I think this Copic combo E70 E71 E74 E77 is my new favorite brown...it reminds me of a cross between Close to Cocoa and Soft Suede...

Happy Friday on a Thursday!

I know it is Thursday...but it feels like my Friday as I have the day off tomorrow so that I can go to Scrapbook Expo in Somerset NJ! YEA!!!! A whole expo center full of vendors that sell all sorts of great crafty things. I am going to go into shopaholic overdose. I plan to get there early and wear comfy shoes...lol! I am going to do every make and take they've got to make up for the last couple of years that I got there late and it was so crowded that there was little left to make or buy. So since today is my Friday...and I probably will not get to post tomorrow...here is a card for you. I made this for my best friend's niece Dorothy for her birthday coming up in two weeks... she will be 6. I thought this cutie looked just like her with the curls...so cute!

PS- Have you seen Pink Cat Studio's new butterfly digis? I just had to buy the entire release b/c I love me some butterflies....ugh I had just put myself on a digi diet too! Oh well they were too cute to resist. Their design team made the most beautiful samples with these digis... Check them out over on the PCS blog if you would like.

A Bo Kinda Birthday!

I made a card, I made a card! Yea! I was so lazy this weekend and hadn't made anything. I had started this card last week...but it looked unfinished to me. Finally I decided to do the little photocorner thingies and viola! A finished card. And I put a strip of patterned paper on the envelope to match, too!

This card is for my Dad...it is his 60th Bday on Thursday. I tried to make it as manly as possible.... and yes I used those free American Crafts Metropolitan papers again...I went by Michael's and snagged another bunch of them for free from the clearance section on Friday. This is the last card for a while with these colors, I promise I will make something totally different!!! I will, I swear!

Lighthouse Scenery

I had a blast this weekend for National Scrapbooking Day! While I didn't scrap anything... I did use the day as an excuse to take a walk around Michael's.... I did manage to pick up some scrapbooking supplies for the book I need to make for a briday shower. They were in the process of revamping all the shelves at the store so they had a ton of great stuff on clearance. I got the cutest Making Memories Spring Trims for .99 and they have this cute American Crafts Paper marked down to .27 cents a sheet....well when I got to the register it rang up at .01 cents so you know what that means.... it was FREE!!! That's right it was headed for the trash bin so they gave it to me for free. Needless to say I was tickled pink.

I made a bunch of cards out of those goodies and did some experimenting. I have finally found a blue copic combo that I like B41, B45, B37. Plus I made my first custom copic color- E23...E21+ E25. I will post a tutorial on how I did that sometime this week.

This card is one that my mother wanted to give to a friend that is missing someone they have not spoken to for years. She is a fan of my cards and wanted one so they could to write to this person. I really hope this card helps them reconnect.

Fun With New Toys!

So the other day I let you guys in on a little secret- I feel like I have lost my mojo. I have at this moment in time 10 cards that I need to make (either requests or Mother's Day I need to send). I still have not done one card that I need to do...but last night I opened up my box that arrived from PTI and I actually did a little playing. Inside my magic box of tricks was cardstock in my favorite colors- pinks and purples...and their new release designer paper- Dotty Biscotti...yes you guessed it ...it is polkadot paper... plus this fabulous leaf ribbon that I decided to order on a whim. I decided to color up this new digi set I got from Tiddly Inks called Bloom Q. I played with my new Smooch Illuminate paint, and I finally opened my new Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch. I used my new Tim Hotlz Alterations Baroque die too! The flowers I picked for this card didn't really match the papers so I colored over them with my Copic RV10 and V91 markers.

The only thing I am not crazy about on this card is that the Smooch made my digi lines run a bit...that is the gray you may see on the flower. Live and Learn....now I know not to color over printed lines with Smooch.

You have until 8pm ET tonight to enter to win the blog candy. I will post the winner tomorrow!
