WOYWW 69.. and enabling...Copic X-Press It Blending Card

I like this whole What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday thing....even though I don't have a work desk... I usually just stamp on a tv tray! Well...here is what I am working on this week. I decided to play a bit with my new Copic X-Press It Blending Card sample pack that I got from All That Scraps.

Here I have stamped Sweet November Stamps Fathom Calmsea in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a sheet of X-Press It on the left and a sheet of PTI Stampers Select White cardstock on the right...which has been my go to cardstock for copic coloring for a while now. PTI cardstock is a brighter white and has more of a tooth than the X-Press It... it is also heavier cardstock 110 lb as compared to X-Press it which is 92 lb and very very smooth...reminds me of SU! Whisper White in smoothness.

LEFT- X-Press It Blending Card RIGHT- Paper Trey Ink Stampers Select White

I chose some colors from different color families (B0000 BV02 and BG05) to test out the blending capabilities of this new cardstock....

I used the mostly the feather blending technique on the tail to blend these three colors and as you can see from the results... the X-Press It Blending Card makes blending pretty easy. I had to work on the PTI a lot longer to blend these three colors together and you can still see a strong line of demarcation between the colors in the mermaid tail. If I had used anymore ink it would have bled way outside the lines.
On the X-Press it, I was able to go back in after I had let it sit and blend it even more. Blending colors the other colors (YG21 YG23 YG25 and Y13 Y15 Y19) on the starfish and seahorse was a cinch...I barely had to use any strokes or any ink...
Since I am very short on crafting time and energy... I like anything that makes my life a little easier. This cardstock makes blending quicker and easier for me. Plus using less ink is also a bonus! Even though it is a bit pricier than what I am used to, I will definitely be ordering some more X-Press It Blending Card! (*PS- I still love my Paper Trey Ink for clarity and vibrancy of the image*)

Happy Tuesday! I was the very lucky winner last week for Color Me Copic's challenge # 4... coloring straight hair. Lucky me! The prize was a stamp and viva decor pearl pen from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. I can't wait to get my Elisabeth Bell Winter Susan stamp.

There is a new challenge and 2 part tutorial by Elaine up this week sponsered by Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps- Coloring Animals/Teddy Bears! I can't wait to try my hand at this one. Don't miss out on the 10% off coupon that Sparkle is offering during the contest.

YAY! My sample pack of X-Press It Blending card arrived yesterday. I can't wait to get home and stamp out some bears and get to coloring.

Sweet Fairy

Happy Friday! Yay! I made this card a while back and finally came up with a sentiment for it. Gotta love dollar bin rhinestone stickers from Michael's. Originally I wanted to use one that said Wish...but it got all tangled when I tried to remove it from the plastic backing sheet. My solution was to just cut around the word and adhere the whole plastic sheet to my card.

I am helping out my best friend at her Grandmother's Estate Sale/Yard Sale tomorrow so I probably won't post again until next week. If you are in the Central New Jersey area and want to check it out, it is at 53 E. Somerset Street in Raritan.

Hello Diva!

Happy Thursday! I can't believe the week is almost over. I am so glad though, I am very tired this week. Too many late nights I think. I have been staying up late stamping and watching all the new fall shows! I just love it when all the shows start up again in the fall.
Here is a card I put together using one of my Kenny K girls. Just love his illustration, it is so sassy!

Musical Birthday...and copic tip

Happy Wednesday! The week is halfway over, yay! I am so mad, I missed Glee last night. I hope I can watch it on the Internet...the 15 minutes that I caught at the end were awesome.

In keeping with the musical theme, here is a card I was asked to make for a friend of a coworker for her 90th birthday. I decided to go for something a bit conservative. No characters and no copics...I know shocking right?

But I do have a copic tip for you. If you haven't been on Sharon Harnist's blog lately there is a post about Copic 6 marker sketch sets now being sold at Hobby Lobby. I really like the color choices in those kits Pale Pastels (YR31 YR12 BV01 BV0000 BG15 BG11 and Perfect Primaries Y19 Y13 R46 R43 B04 B00). I like that these sets give you two each of 3 shades that you can blend with..nice little kit if you are just starting out and are too timid to order your markers online .

Also on Sharon's Copic Info page she has a link to a great chart from Just Rite Stampers. They have jumped on the PTI and Flourishes bandwagon and are selling Copic Collor Collections in quads and trios. Here is the link to the chart on Sharon's blog- Just Rite Stampers -Copic Color Collections . It has some really good color combinations on it and you can print it out for your reference.

Oh and here is a picture of the inside of my card. I haven't decorated the inside of a card in quite some time. I like how it turned out. Maybe I will do it more often...nah I know I won't. lol!

Happy Autumn!

I figured since the equinox is upon us, that a fall themed card was in order. I love the fall, it is my favorite time of year. I am not too big on hot weather, winter is just too cold...spring...too much with the Hay Fever...but Fall, yup that is my favorite season. I got the idea for this card from a scrap piece of paper that I had punched out a bunch of leafs from...I though the negative space would look cool on a cardfront. Happy Monday y'all!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!

Hi Everyone...

Just thought I would stop in to show you what is on my workdesk... (yes that is actually the foot of my bed since my desk is totally covered in supplies ) ...

I have a great idea in my head for this card for the Flutter By Wednesday challenge/Color Me Copic Challenge # 4....and just have to make it all come together.
I have been waiting for this Cosmo Cricket Pixie Licious paper in the mail to use with this Lil' Lolita Hippie Willow stamp and it just came Friday. I even picked out a cute sentiment that says Have a Groovy Day from Amy R's Summer Fun Sentiments...
I've got the hair all colored based on Amy Young's straight hair coloring tutorial over on the Color Me Copic blog... to enter in their Challenge # 4. I was a busy bee coloring over the weekend... I just need to finish an entire image... I have about 15 of them partially done... but I would rather match my coloring to specific papers instead of trying to scramble and find paper to match what I have already colored. I have had such a crafter's block for weeks. I think I just had a random case of the blahs! But now I am excited and ready to make some cute cards. Yay!
