Wednesday, A Day To Celebrate!

Happy Wednesday!

Just checking in with a quick card. No- I repeat no Copics were used in the making of this card.  This past weekend, I have been trying to get up to speed with Distress Inks.

Let me preface this next statement by saying that I have always hated the way sponging of any kind looks when I do it.   I had also decided many moons ago that I didn't like the way the two measly Distress Inks that I have looked when I used them.  The only time I would drag them out would be to ink the edges of my paper by swiping the paper on the ink pad.  After seeing the pretty new colors that Tim Holtz came out for Spring, I decided I needed to take some time and investigate the techniques people were using with Distress Inks.    After doing some YouTube tutorial viewing, I realized I have been using them with the wrong type of applicator for years!  I was using the felt pads that go with alcohol inks instead of using the foam pads.  Well what a difference a foam pad makes.  I love Distress Inks now!  I got 11 more colors and I am ready to use these babies more often!

I made this Birthday card for my Dad! I like how a little Distress Ink really plays up the papers from the Up Up and Away collection.
