Summer is Over Smash Sunday

My goodness it has been so long since I have been here.  Summer was a whirlwind of working, vacations, new births, and tons of summer reading.  No where in that mix has been any crafting.  Now that things have slowed down and the hot summer days have turned to the start of cool fall breezes, I was able to sit down for a few moments of reflection to do something semi-crafty.  I did a SMASH spread of some of the fall trends I really like.  The top two things that I am loving are Burgundy everything and Bejeweled and jewel-tone clothing.  In my smash pages you will see some things I am coveting for fall.  Life and reality being what they are, the best way for me to bring home something similar was to get the new burgundy colored nail polish from Essie called Recessionista.  I love it.  It is a nice deep burgundy color that I think is perfect for fall.  Totally fitting name, Recessionista.  Being inspired by the name, I also got a great sweater on clearance from Banana Republic to match for only $20!  I think my next tiny splurge will be the new lipstick color from MAC's Marilyn Monroe inspired line called Deeply Adored.

XOXO- Michelle

Smash Saturday

This is my Smash Page for the 24 Hour SMASH Challenge on Facebook.  The challenge was to use Washi Tape, Fabric, Flowers, Stamps, Stickers, and date stamp.  I've got all that on this one.  This page has been started in my SMASH Journal for a while.  I saw the title in a the Sunday Parade Magazine insert a few months ago and snipped it out just knowing that saying would come in handy.  I glued it onto this page and forgot about it for a while.  When I was cleaning up I saw this image I had colored when I was testing my Basil Smooth Cardstock and had a lightbulb moment. Still I stuck the image in the book loose on this page and forgot about it again.  Today when I saw the challenge I just immediately knew what to do.  Some die cutting and sponging with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink later, I had my layout mostly done.  I stuck on some Petaloo glitter flowers, a Glitz epoxy sticker, some washi tape and fabric washi tape.  I finished it off with a Hampton Arts Ditto stamp I found on clearance at Michael's and viola!

Smash Sunday

I shopped this week for a few crafty items.  After seeing a cute SMASH journal of copic color combos for hair colors here, I decided to make one of my own.  I went over to Michael's to see if I could find the Mini Smash Journal because it looked like it would be the perfect size for my project.  Unfortunately my Michael's didn't have any.  They did have the new extra large SMASH Folios.  I was tempted to get the red one and the new baby one for my BFF Marle who is expecting.  I decided to keep to my budget and not go crazy.  I did pick up some of the calendar washi tape and some Recollections lavender washi tape they had.  I also snagged a cute brag book by Hampton Art ditto.  It was in the clearance section and was only $1.49.   It had a blank cover you could color. Inside are plastic sleeves for photos.

I decided to use this as a portable Copic inventory journal.  I will use the extra pages to hold my wish list when I go to Scrapbook Expo this June.  I find it is very easy to get distracted with all those amazing vendors and end up buying duplicates of something you already have or forgetting to pick up something you need.  I colored the cover with my Copics then put on a piece of patterned paper from the Making Memories Just Chillin paper pad and Glitz Epoxy stickers.  I covered the seam with some washi tape.

I ended up ordering from Oozak to get the Mini Smash Journal.  I also ordered some Goosebumps Shimmer spray and 10 Copic Originals.  Why originals you ask?  I feel like I can't seem to get a crisp enough stroke when coloring hair with my Sketch markers and trying to draw in strands of hair.  I decided to get some colors for hair where I could use the fine nib to do that.  I am so pleased, I ordered on Thursday and got my Copics by Saturday.  Excellent customer service!  Below is the picture of the Mini Smash Journal.  It is very cute and light and comes with a Smash Pen.

I used the Moka Hair Color Chart which is a free download from Taylored Expressions.  I copied the image from the pdf into Word and then typed in the colors under each picture.  I added some Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks scraps and Washi tape to the already decorated SMASH pages to make the background.

Smash Sunday

Did a little smashing today. I went to see the Hunger Games a few weeks ago with my BFF's for my birthday. When I saw this cute Katniss digi from Saturated Canary, I knew I had to do a Smash Page.

St. Patrick's Day Baby!

Sorry my Smash Sunday post is so late. It was my birthday Saturday and I was sick as a dog. I did get to do some Smashing though :0) I decided to do a St. Patrick's Day theme spread. I used the page in my Red Doodle SMASH Journal that says "I Am." I am at St. Patrick's Day baby! I finally got to color up this cute Elisabeth Bell image from Susana's Customer Art and Card Design called Irish Eyes. I used my Lucky Leaves Memory Box die, the Vaudeville Frame and some foam stickers and a cute clover stamp I picked up at Scrapbook Expo last year.

It is pretty clean and simple but I thought since this is a book all about me, I just had to include something about how I was born on St. Patrick's Day. My mother always jokes that I was 2 months premature because I wanted to come out to see the parade!

Smash Sunday

I got to do lots of smashing today! Here is my latest pages. They are all about how I spend my weekends. The best weekends to me are the lazy ones. I loved these digis from Simply Betty because they reminded me of this Smash page with the pie chart that says " How I Spend My Days". I spend so much of my weekend in my jammies, hair in rollers, enjoying my coffee, or papercrafting. Morning Betty and Scrapbook Betty were perfect for these pages.

I used some Bo Bunny Sweet Tooth and paper and stamps. I love to bake so I thought the Smash Tab that says "To Bake" would go perfect with this page.

This page I used some cool Fabscraps Washi tape and just left this page the way it came in the book. I included some lyrics from The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars because it perfectly describes my mood on the weekends. Sometimes the best days are the ones where you have to do "Nothing At All"!

Smash Pretty Lavender Folio and First Video

My Smash goodies just arrived and I wanted to share with all of you what the new Pretty Lavender Large Smash Folio looks like inside. This is my first video and as such...there is no sound at the beginning. I think I had my finger over the mic on my iPhone. Oh well, no one needs my commentary the main event is what the book looks like.

Smash Sunday

It's Smash Sunday again, and today I am sharing some pocket pages I made to hold more books I want to read. While the page I shared last week has a ton of books I want to read, there was still a whole bunch more. I decided to make some pocket pages that were just pretty and could hold anything, not just books I want to read but maybe places I want to go or things I want to do, Leap List stuff. I can just slide anything in the pockets and change it up as I go along.

Saw this art work over on Kellie Winnell's page and had to CAS it. It is pink and matches my pages! Thanks Kellie for inspiring me to Smash! There is a great Facebook group where everyone shares their journals here.

I used some Inkadinkado clear stamps from a set called Thoughts For The Day. I colored them in with Copic RV34 and some stickles. I added some Paper Layers and stickers from the Glitz Pretty In Pink kit. Finally I added in some Smash tape and SmashPad pages and topped it all off with an tin butterfly ornament I got from the dollar fifty bin at Michael's.

Smashing Sunday

I have been bitten by the Smash bug. I got my first Smash Journal on Friday. I had fun breaking it in. I decided to do a layout about reading since that is my other obsessive pastime. Plus it was a perfect excuse to use this new Bedhead stamp from Saturated Canary. Looks just like me! I just finished reading Great Hexpectations by H.P. Mallory this morning.

The very first page I made was about books I wanted to read. Of course I ran out of room because there are a lot of books on my reading wishlist. I covered over the first page in the Red Doodle Smash Journal completely. It was orange. I hate orange.

I decided to cover over the left inside page also to include more books. I still have a bunch more but these are the ones I want to read first.

Here are all the cool Smash goodies I picked up to get me started. I got the Like This Smash Tape, the Entertainment Smash Pad, Red and Blue Smash Stickies plus some cool finds from the Michael's $1.50 bin. I got some Shabby Chic Clothes Pins and a cool vintagey lined Paper Pad.
