Spider Dad, Super Dad

Happy Monday! I had so much fun playing with this great digi from Whiff of Joy called Spider Henry. Katharina had it on her blog a few weeks back as a freebie and I wasn't sure what I would do with it. But then I found dome ATD Super Hero Specialty Papers on clearance at M's and an idea was born. I hope my Dad likes it...he likes Spiderman...so the chances are good.

Have I mentioned previously that I love anything Elizabeth Bell? Well I do! The new uptown girls Whiff of Joy stamps are so cute. This one is Dancing Willow. I made her a little racy in a little red dress. Hope you like her!

Easter Blessings and American Idol Chit Chat

I made this card the other night, but am not sure I like the layout. I think I may take it apart and revamp it a bit. Maybe I will shift the elements around or something. I was too distracted watching American Idol the last two nights.

I really was surprised at how the girls performed. They were not that great. I wasn't too impressed with them. No clear favorites yet. They boys were much better. I think my favorites so far are Casey and Lee! I am so predictable. I always end up favoring the male gravelly voiced contestants (i.e.- Chris Daughtry, David Cook...). I really like Ellen as a judge too...she is positive but also offers the contestants constructive critisism from a layman's perspective. Kudos to her!

I took ages, but I have finally finished my first batch of Holiday cards. I was making them to sell in packs of 5 cards each so you can imagine how much coloring, cutting and gluing was involved. I have already sold 10 boxes!!!

Baby Shower for Ava Marie

This past weekend I was very busy getting ready for my best friend's baby shower. I can't wait until she arrives in January, I am going to be her favorite baby sitter Auntie Mich Mich! I can't believe I am voluntarily signing up for dirty diaper duty. Thank goodness we gave her a Diaper Genie to keep the smelly diapers from stinking up the joint.

I have to say the little Winnie the Pooh in the pink sleeper is the most adorable gift that Ava got. Everyone took turns carrying it around pretending that Winnie was Ava, even her father, Lou! So cute!

Happy New Baby

Happy Friday! I have been working on this card over the last two weeks. First I made the base and did the sewing in the background. Finally yesterday I decided to pick a stamp for the focal image. I decided to give this stamp another go, my goal was making the dress a lighter aqua color. I used a my Copic colorless blender to actually remove a lot of the color from the fabric of the dress. I really like how it all came together. See what happens when you don't rush!

Pretty in Purple

I love how this card came out! I finally got my hands on some Neenah paper to use with my Copics. I also tried something new and used Prima flowers and colored pearls along with my fun new sewing technique. I have even started making my cards backwards, just putting together card bases and then choosing the stamped image and colors to match the base. And I am using buttons. I have them but barely ever use them. I dug out my ancient stash of ribbons from the basement, too. I am so pleased with the results! I have been practising and practising with my copics trying to blend lightly and get a nice light colored effect on the paper to no avail until I tried it on the Neenah paper. I think I see why everybody likes it so much.

This is by far the favorite card I have ever made. I am entering it in the Guest Designer Call over at Whiff of Joy. You can read the details over at Katharina's blog. You have until September 19th to enter.

I Have Finally Sewed on a Card!

After two years of owning a mini sewing machine I finally got over my irrational fear of the contraption and figured out how to sew on my cards. I must have sewed 10-15 card bases over Labor Day weekend trying to get the hang of it...how to thread the machine, how to finish off the stitches. Here is what I've come up with so far:
Recipe: Stampin' Up! Bashful Blue Cardstock, Whiff of Joy Willow with Hot Chocolate Stamp, Wausau Bright White Cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, CTMH Buttons, Ribbon, Sew Crafty Mini Sewing Machine, Dimensionals, Copics, Silver Spica Glitter Pen, Star Dust Stickles

Musing Melinda

Copic fun! I finally got some Whiff of Joy stamps. I am such a huge fan of Elizabeth Bell. I wish I could draw like that. I did lots and lots of coloring this weekend. This card was inspired by the Pink and Brown color challenge over at Copic Buzz.
